Quick and Easy Strawberry Mojito

The virgin strawberry mojito is the perfect summer drink: fruity, fizzy, and incredibly refreshing. Made with simple ingredients like fresh strawberries, lemon juice, mint, sparkling water, and a touch of sugar or syrup, this delightful beverage is a real treat to enjoy as soon as the sun comes out.

The natural sweetness of the strawberries pairs beautifully with the coolness of mint and the tang of lemon, all brought to life by the sparkle of fizzy water. The result? A light, colorful, and flavorful drink that’s loved by both kids and adults.

Quick and easy to make, this homemade strawberry mojito is perfect for a terrace aperitif, brunch, picnic, or a day by the pool. It’s the ultimate mocktail to sip without moderation. With its fruity twist, the strawberry mojito has become, alongside lemonade and sangria, one of the essential drinks that keeps us company all summer long.

Tips for a Successful Virgin Strawberry Mojito

Ingredient selection: Use strawberries, lime (or lemon), mint leaves, ice cubes, sugar or syrup, and a sparkling drink like Sprite, 7UP, or Schweppes for a more flavorful result than plain sparkling water. You can use fresh strawberries, thawed frozen ones, or, if necessary, just strawberry syrup.

Muddle the ingredients properly: Use a muddler to release the aromas of the lime and mint. A fork can work in a pinch, but a muddler gives a deeper, more flavorful result.

Adjust quantities to your taste: Vary the amount of mint (8 to 18 leaves), sugar, and strawberries (about 6 per glass). You can also blend some of the strawberries into a coulis for extra intensity.

Use tall, wide glasses: Highball glasses are ideal for serving this kind of cocktail.

Whole ice cubes or crushed ice? Whole ice cubes melt more slowly, while crushed ice helps keep the fruit and mint pieces at the bottom of the glass. Choose whichever you prefer, it’s all about personal taste.

Making several servings? Muddle the strawberries, mint, and lime (or lemon) in a large container, such as a measuring jug or bowl. Then divide the mixture evenly between the glasses before adding ice and lemonade. This saves time and helps the flavors blend more evenly.

NB: Find the recipe card below that you can print.

  • 24 fresh mint leaves
  • 25 g granulated sugar or brown sugar (0.9 oz) (if using sparkling water, increase to 50 g / 1.8 oz)
  • 1/2 lime, or lemon if unavailable, cut into 6 pieces

  • 12 strawberries, cut into pieces (200 g / 7 oz)
  • Sprite, lemonade, or sparkling water (to top up)
  • 10 ice cubes

use a muddler to prepare the strawberry mojito

Preparation Steps:

In a measuring glass, place the strawberries cut into pieces, the sugar, the lime juice, and the half lime cut into chunks.

Muddle everything together using a cocktail muddler, or if you don’t have one, use a fork to release the flavors and aromas.

Divide the mixture evenly between two highball glasses.

Fill the glasses with crushed ice or ice cubes, leaving some space to add the lemonade.

Decorate the inside of each glass with a slice of lime, a few strawberry slices, and some mint leaves. This is optional, so feel free to skip it if you prefer.

Top up with lemonade or sparkling water. If you’re using rum, add it at this stage.

Garnish the rim of each glass with a whole strawberry and a mint leaf.
