With this heat, what could be better than a refreshing banana and peach smoothie recipe to quench your thirst? I really love smoothies and cocktails because you can vary them however you like, and they’re super easy to make. You can use fresh seasonal fruits like peaches, apricots, cherries, strawberries, etc., or frozen fruits. You can blend the fruits with milk, orange juice, sparkling water, or simply water.

To get a nice creamy smoothie, I recommend using frozen fruits or just a few slices of frozen bananas along with your fresh fruits.

What Exactly is a Smoothie?

“Smoothie” comes from the word ‘smooth,’ meaning creamy and velvety in texture. It’s a creamy drink made in a blender from fruits and juice. There are also vegetable smoothies or mixes of fruits and vegetables.

The smoothie was invented in the USA. Originally, it was a fruit shake made without dairy for people allergic to lactose. This is the main difference between a smoothie and a milkshake. The latter is made with milk and fruit. 

The Benefits of a Smoothie

It’s packed with vitamins from fruits and trace minerals from vegetables.

Nowadays, we tend to consume too many carbonated drinks, like Coca-Cola and similar sodas, while it’s actually very easy to prepare fresh, homemade juices that are full of vitamins and, above all, great for your health. You’ll load up on vitamins, vitality, and give your immune system a boost.

Nothing beats freshly squeezed lemon or orange juice to give your body a morning boost! Despite all the ads for commercial juices, between you and me, I don’t buy into them at all. I’m convinced that as long as we avoid industrial products and all those additives, preservatives, or flavor enhancers, our health will thank us someday.

If you’re using fresh fruits, you can add ice cubes to your smoothie, but you’ll need a good blender.

If you love coffee and can’t do without it even in summer, you’ll really enjoy dalgona coffee, a very refreshing iced coffee.

So, let’s go for a glass of refreshing and colorful juice: the banana and peach smoothie, very fresh and creamy.

Ingredients:

For 2 large glasses of smoothie

  • 2 bananas, sliced and frozen (this gives the creaminess)
  • 2 peaches with skin
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 plain or strawberry yogurt (pairs very well with peach)
  • A little orange juice or milk (optional, to adjust the texture)

How to prepare the banana and peach smoothie?

Place the frozen banana slices in the blender bowl.

Add the peaches (washed, with skin), cut into pieces and pitted.

Pour in the lemon juice, add the yogurt, and blend everything.

If the texture is too thick for your liking, add a bit of orange juice or milk to loosen it.

Blend again until you get a smooth and creamy texture.

Garnish with a mint leaf and serve well chilled. Enjoy immediately!
